Freedom Planet characters have managed to expand past their own games and may continue to do so in the future.įreedom Planet 2 will release on September 13 for PC and consoles. Thanks to the initial game's success, Freedom Planet characters have shown up in other indie games as crossovers lead character Sash Lilac has appeared in several games including A Hat in Time, Runbow, and Indie Pogo. The Unity engine allowing for new features like dynamic zoom give the game even more of its own style, cementing Freedom Planet 2 as a modernized, improved take on the original's concepts. So much time, love and effort was put into this game and its just such an amazing product in general- not to mention it satisfies me as a Sonic fan. It frustrates me that it recieved so little coverage despite how exceptional it is. The sequel takes on its own style and uses higher-resolution sprites to create more detailed characters and separate itself from the heavily Genesis-inspired style of its predecessor. I love FP and 2 deserves a thousand times more publicity than its getting. The characters in the original game, while differentiated, are still somewhat Sonic-like given its origins as a fangame. To differentiate itself from its inspirations, Freedom Planet 2 brings changes to character designs. As such, Freedom Planet 2 has a lot to live up to, but the playable demo that is currently available shows a lot of potential. The original Freedom Planet was well-received around its release in 2014, and since then it has amassed a dedicated fan following. The change in release date will leave more time to recover as the rest of the team continues finishing the project. There's even more to come for Freedom Planet 1 as well, so be on the lookout for more news. The post from GalaxyTrail lays out the reason why release was pushed back from its earlier estimation of spring 2022, citing testing and certification for console ports and the lead developer unfortunately suffering a hand injury. Freedom Planet 1 will be recieving some QOL updates in the coming months, along with some bug fixes to the Demo Version. We want you all to keep those appetites wet for the game. Later this year we will be updating Freedom Planet 2's Sample Version into Freedom Planet 2: The Demo! We plan to feature around two additional levels and possibly some of the Battle Arena into the mix.The player controls one of three anthropomorphic animal protagonists: the dragon girl Lilac, the wildcat Carol, or the basset hound Milla. We're looking at 20+ levels, 4 characters, a Battle Arena, world map and hub areas filled with over 100 NPCs! Now we've been given a sedative and told to behave ourselves, so we're not going to be adding much more to our workload for the game now. Freedom Planet is a 2014 platform game developed and published by American video game designer Sabrina DiDuro, for her studio GalaxyTrail. The major reason for this time needed: THE NEW GAME IS HUGE.To anyone who expected it out in 2018, we apologize, as when we started the Greenlight we were a little overoptimistic. First time we've ever been pretty clear on when we'll finish the job. We've had to push back our estimate for Q1/Q2 2019, however this is our official estimated release window. That game is Grapple Force Rena, a side scrolling adventure with Bionic Commando and Mischief Makers style gamplay! Check it out here: This game isn't going to be messing with FP2's development in any way as we're simply helping on the Distribution and Publishing end. UNESCO uses education, science, culture, communication and information to foster mutual understanding and respect for our planet. GalaxyTrail has welcomed a new developer and a new game into our fold.We have a new Gameplay Trailer available! See more action than contained in the demo.If you want your finger on the pulse of our development, go there, hang out, and play nice. Many seemed to have missed it but we had quite a few announcements for 2018.įirst and Most Importantly: Our community has a very, very active Discord where we regularly update people first and foremost. Due to confusing elements, I feel it's important to keep the community up to date on how we are doing and what we're planning to do in the future.
